No matter how picturesque a garden may be, it is not complete without our favorite feathered friends. Garden bird feeders are simply birdfeeders that are hung or mounted in our gardens. Garden bird feeders can be placed in the trees, shrubs, or on the ground of our gardens. The placement of garden bird feeders or any feeder for that matter depends on the type of bird you would like to attract. Birdfeeders placed in trees will attract those birds who spend most of their time in the trees such as tanagers, orioles, or grosbeaks. Garden birdfeeders placed in the shrubs of our gardens are for birds such as sparrows, cardinals and wrens. Finally, bird feeders that are placed in the beds of gardens or on our lawns for birds that tend to dine by picking up seed from the floor (robins, grackles, blackbirds, quail, and towhees).
